Medical Device Development
Successful therapy is not just about the drug, but also how it is administered to the patient. As a nurse, I care about the patient’s quality of life.
Our new electronic injection devices are great. They are handy, smart, and easy to use. The needle is hidden and very thin, which makes the injections much easier to administer. Most patients are really happy about the comfort settings option, which allows them to choose the best injection comfort in depth, speed and time. And healthcare professionals appreciate these devices because of the clinical settings, which make the patient’s compliance to treatment completely transparent and opens up the discussion between the patient and the doctor.
Colleagues from sales, marketing, regulatory affairs, and quality management as well as external medical professionals regularly ask me to share my knowledge about our newest generation of injection devices. It’s also part of my job to “train the trainers” from all over the world. The graduates of the course then go back to their respective countries and demonstrate how to use the devices to colleagues. These international events also allow participants to discuss common issues in patient care and to share best practices.
As a typical nurse, I can only help a limited number of people around me. Through my position with Merck Serono, there is a huge multiplier effect that will eventually result in a better quality of care to thousands of patients.
