I work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Our mission is to drive effective executive-level decision-making for the Merck Serono drug development pipeline. We have created a framework in which the scientific merits and viability of each drug candidate can be judged in a rigorous and consistent manner. We don’t have the resources to pursue every possible project, so we have to make some tough choices.
Making those choices means finding answers to critical questions. Do we understand the mechanism of action? Do we believe in a novel, untested biological pathway? What does the science tell us about the potential efficacy? Will this drug provide a benefit to patients?
I am constantly humbled and inspired by our mission to transform the lives of patients. And I am driven by the hope that through our collective success people can live longer and healthier lives.
