James Stewart, MBA, is Vice President, Strategy Realization Office for Merck Serono. Mr. Stewart is also a member of the Pharmaceutical Executive Committee.
Mr. Stewart joined Merck Serono following a lengthy career with Merck & Co., Whitehouse Station, New Jersey (NJ), where he served in numerous global leadership roles covering many aspects of the global pharmaceutical business. Since 2009 he held the position of Vice President, Program Realization Officer and Chief of Staff within the Emerging Markets business unit where he was based in Brussels and Munich.
Starting with Merck & Co. in 1984, Mr. Stewart’s initial assignment was in the Human Resources function based in Rahway, NJ. He subsequently took on positions of increasingly responsibility in various functions and geographies of the business that focused on the development and implementation of organization transformation, business process improvement and operations excellence programs. Under his leadership he orchestrated successful change programs in the Finance, Information Technology, Commercial, Medical and Emerging Markets areas.
Mr. Stewart completed his university education in New York and New Jersey, obtaining Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degrees in Finance (1993) and Managerial Sciences (1988), following a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Information Systems and Business Administration (1983).
James Stewart is a US citizen who has lived abroad for the past 10 years and currently resides in Geneva with his family.
